EVA Cosplay Rubber 5mm (Medium Density)
EVA rubber, short for Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate, is a widely used material in cosplay to create costumes, accessories, and armor. It is a flexible, lightweight, and durable polymer that can be easily molded and manipulated, making it ideal for creating detailed, wearable models. EVA rubber is known for its versatility, as it can be heated, cut, glued, sanded, and painted to create anything from futuristic armor to fantasy weapons. Cosplayers prefer it for its affordability and the professional-quality results it can achieve when used properly alone or in combination with other materials such as ThermoArt.
There are three types of this material, each varying in density and application, as follows:
Soft density (less than 25º Shore hardness) is the cheapest and lowest-quality, often too fragile for children's craft projects. It doesn't hold its shape well, has a porous finish, and lacks the durability needed for wearable costumes. Therefore, this type is not recommended for serious cosplayers seeking durable creations.
Medium density (30°-40° Shore A hardness) is the most commonly used in cosplay. It is ideal for building armor, accessories, and props that require a certain degree of structural integrity while still being comfortable to wear. This type of material can be easily thermoformed, sanded, and machined, making it versatile for a variety of projects.
Hard density (hardness above 50° Shore A) is stiffer and more durable and is used for larger or more complex parts that need to maintain their shape over time. It is ideal for hulls, shields, or armor that must withstand greater wear. Although heavier and more difficult to work with than medium density, the hard density version offers a robust, glossy finish for professional-quality projects.
