A multi-national peace keeping force (KFOR) is already at work to keep the peace in the region. Russian special forces belonging to the Spetsnaz VDV (Airborne) are part of KFOR. On 12 June 1999, deploying at lightning speed from their base in Bosnia, the Russians were the first troops into Kosovo.
